Why Madeira?

The island of Madeira is located 975km southwest of Lisbon. With a subtropical climate, it is recognized for its natural beauty. Two thirds of the archipelago are formed by protected areas where the largest Laurel forest in the world stands out. The constant spring temperature throughout the year invites outdoor activities.

More than 50 pedestrian routes can be enjoyed through the «Levadas»; climb to the top of a mountain and enjoy breath taking landscapes; visit the city of Funchal and discover the heritage associated to the Age of Discovery.
A unique opportunity to discover Cetaceans (in speedboat or catamaran) allows you to appreciate the coastline and have a different perspective of this enchanted island.

Simple and extremely welcoming people that live their traditions and festivities fervently. Agriculture is also part of their way of life, from bananas to passion fruit, from the famous Madeira Wine to the production of sugar cane and its by-products (rum and honey).

The excellence of simplicity is also present in its gastronomy: Despite being surrounded by the sea, the beef kebab on laurel stick is the most typical dish. However, tuna, swordfish, bolo do caco or fried corn, are also much appreciated specialties.
